Building My Website (2): The Next Iteration

Some more of the basics added to the site and the homepage now looks like this:

The next few useful items I was able to add were navigation links to pages that already exist.

My Case Study for my Diploma in UX is hosted at UXFolio. And now that I have this Blog I was able to link here.

The idea long term would be to host both the blog and case study on the site, but not until I think I can do it in a way that’s better than what the current sites offer.

Once I had those 2 links in, I filled out the Navigation menu with the Home link and the MinimalFolio X logo provided by the template. The menu looked bare and unaligned without the logo so I felt I should include it. I would ideally have my own logo, but I’m not in a rush to change it. I may do a logo design course at some stage and use it to fill in here. It also matches the favicon on the browser, so I’m keeping it consistent for now.

Once I had those in, I then added in the Contact links and the Contact page itself:

This is another page from the template, with everything removed except for links to pages that currently exist i.e. my Linkedin and Twitter. It does look a bit bare, so I will add in the Contact form next, but the social links are among the most useful links on the site, so well worth adding. I may even try to move them to the Footer once there are more pages, so they are accessible from anywhere.

Aside from that, I’m getting a bit more familiar with using Webflow. The navigation links were ones I created myself as I wanted to leave the ones from the template untouched for now. I’ve also started using my own custom class to hide different links or areas on pages.

Onto the next iteration!
